PerfMan for Web Servers is a Web log file analysis program that reports activity based on requested files, file types, and site visitors. The PerfMan product is able to analyze logs produced by multiple popular Web servers; including IIS for Windows, Apache for UNIX systems, and the IBM HTTP server for OS/390 platforms. The product reads the Web logs produced by these servers and summarizes the information into daily, weekly, and monthly information.
Information that is collected by the PerfMan for Web Servers tool is then reported through the Windows based PerfMan Analyst tool. PerfMan Analyst includes the ability to customize reporting charts through the tweaking of styles, colors, and notations; scripting tools allowing for the automated creation of standard reports; and the ability to publish resulting reports in HTML format for viewing on the Web.
Some of the questions answered by the PerfMan analysis tool include total visitors and hits to files; most active pages; how long users remained on the site; referrers; etc.
PerfMan for Web Servers is expected to be made available in Q1 2000. Visit the vendor's Web site for further information.
