Fortress uses the new networking features in Flash 5 to make collaboration technology instantly accessible to Flash developers. Conceptually modeled as "a building filled with rooms," the Fortress Room Architecture makes it easy to build a Web site containing a collection of interconnected rooms for visitors to navigate through. Rooms can be public or private, single- or multi-user, and the activities taking place in any given room are completely programmable. Using XML messages, Flash 5 clients can navigate through the rooms on a Fortress server and participate in the activities in the rooms. In fact, Fortress can be accessed by any XML-capable client platform, such as Java, C++, and many mobile devices.
