The CoffeeCup HTML Editor provides an HTML text authoring environment for Windows or Linux users. The editor provides a means for HTML authors to enter or modify HTML code directly and examine the results of their code live in a split-screen preview window.
The editor provides an environment for both the creation and uploading of HTML pages. Authoring features include color-coded syntax display, real-time spell checking and thesaurus, a table designer tool, an "image companion" allowing users to make basic adjustments to images (like scaling and rotation) from within the authoring environment, one-click uploading to the server, and the ability to open pages directly from a URL.
In addition to its authoring features, the CoffeeCup Editor also supplies multiple "canned" accessories for the creation of Web pages; including 100 pre-written JavaScripts, DHTML scripts, animated and regular graphics, a sound gallery, background graphics, and 5 built-in CGI scripts including search and formmail.
The CoffeeCup HTML Editor is available for download now at a price of $49 ($20 for the Linux version - Linux users be sure to check on available features). Additionally, CoffeeCup has announced they will be producing a Web-based version of the software accessible through browsers. This version should be available in the summer of 2000, and will be available on a subscription basis.
