ObjectAssembler

ObjectAssembler (formerly Roaming Studio) is a comprehensive and visual J2EE software development environment that supports the design, implementation, assembly and deployment of J2EE and Struts applications. It enriches traditional integrated development environments (IDEs) by providing simple visual representations of patterns, components and assemblies while automating many of the routine implementation tasks. This enables developers to focus on writing business logic and avoid getting sidelined by the tedious technical aspects of J2EE development.

ObjectAssembler is comprised of the following products:

- Standard: Standard is offered free of charge and is focused on supporting developers whose sole area of concern is developing Servlets, JSPs, JavaBeans and Struts components. (Struts is a popular open source Web application framework that is part of the Apache Jakarta Project.) Standard provides a visual development and code synchronization environment for the development and assembly of these components into Web applications.

- Professional: Professional offers all of the features found in Standard and fully supports the component-based architecture of J2EE. Developers are provided with a visual environment for developing, assembling and deploying EJBs, Servlets, JSPs, JavaBeans and Struts components. Currently Professional provides support for J2EE 1.2/EJB 1.1 with anticipated support of J2EE 1.3/EJB 2.0 at the end of Q1 2002. Professional costs $499 per developer license.

- Enterprise: Enterprise introduces pattern-oriented J2EE development, which provides support for the creation and application of patterns to components. It currently ships with the Sun Java Center Pattern Catalog. The next generation of pattern support, which will include other popular pattern catalogs, is currently underway and will be unveiled late in Q1 2002. Enterprise costs $999 per developer license.

ObjectAssembler is designed to work with all popular Java IDEs and is currently offered with support for Borland's JBuilder.
