B&L's Archived Data Manager (ADM) provides a consolidated view of multiple data backup catalogs from separate vendors; extracting the data from those logs and making it available through a central interface for searching or discovery purposes. The vendor states that following the extraction of data from the backup catalogs, backed up data can then be searched by backup application, backup server, backup client, file name/date/time, or expiration date.
Access to the platform is via Web-browser, with the product leveraging Java and AJAX technologies. The vendor states that their data extraction technology is agentless, and therefore requires no additional software to be installed on the server for backup catalog extraction. Support for existing backup platforms includes Symantec Veritas NetBackup and Backup Exec, EMC Legato NetWorker, CA ARCserve, and HP Omniback II and Data Protector.
In addition to the above collection and searching features, the platform can also provide alerts when listed files are ready for deletion (expiration).
Archived Data Manager is available now. Contact B&L Associates for further information.
