The NetCOR product line from Kano Technologies consists of NAS and IP SAN gear served in several configurations and capacities.
At the low end of the gear are the 1, 2, and 3U E Series offerings (E400N, E800N, and E1600N) which provide Network Attached Storage (NAS) in 4, 8, or 16 drive-bay enclosures. The E Series appliances sport 2 (E400N) or 4 (E800N, E1600N) 1 GbE iSCSI ports and can be loaded with SATA drives (four are included). Driven by Intel dual-core processors, the E Series enclosures can optionally be loaded with a RAID controller (levels 0, 1, 1+0, 5, 6, or 50 depending on model and number of drives included), with the higher end models (E800N, E1600N) boasting redundant, hot-swappable hard drives. Management is via the vendor's StorNAS Manager utility.
New to the appliance line up is the NetCOR 6000 IP SAN, which is sold in single or dual controller (with failover) configurations. The 2/4U appliance is also driven by an Intel processor (Pentium 4) and includes 2 or 4 1 GbE host ports. 15 drive bays will accommodate either SAS or SATA drives, with RAID 0, 1, 1+0, 5, and JBOD configurations possible. 2U expansion disk arrays are offered with 12 bays each in single or dual-channel SAS flavors; up to 51 total drives are supported per system. Management of the NetCOR 6000 IP SAN appliances is via the vendor's StorSAN utility, with Telnet/serial console management, SNMP, and iSNS also all listed as supported.
Similar to the NetCOR 6000 is the NetCOR 7500; single or dual controller IP SAN enclosures driven by AMD processors (dual core Athlon) and including 12 drive bays with support for up to 60 drives total via expansion arrays. Also listed on the vendor's site is a NetCOR 8500 appliance (no further information is available as of this writing).
Pricing for the appliances ranges from $2,849 (E400N with 1 TB) to $9,499 (7500 with dual controllers). The new NetCOR 6000 is base priced at $4,999.
