SSH Tectia

Security Middleware Operates Between Applications and Infrastructure

SSH Tectia is a layer of software components that operates between the network infrastructure and business applications and provides secure access and communications within the corporate network, between client and server machines. Multiple components are available in the SSH Tectia product suite and many operating platforms are supported at both the client and server side; including Windows, Linux, and Solaris. Since the components provide and enable secure communication paths between the individual client machines and the business applications running on the servers, no changes are required to the hardware infrastructure or the business applications themselves in order to implement the SSH Tectia components.

The individual components of the SSH Tectia platform can be mixed and matched by implementors as per their needs, and provide tools for establishing secure connections between clients and servers, authenticating the individuals using those connections, and the centralized, remote management of the individual components themselves over the corporate network. Specifically:

SSH Tectia Client/SSH Tectia Server provide terminal emulation and secure file transfer capabilities. The server can be deployed on Windows, Linux, Solaris, AIX, HP-UX, and z/OS machines; while the clients support Windows, Linux, Solaris, AIX, and HP-UX.

SSH Tectia Manager is the component that can be accessed by administrators for the centralized management and operation of the individual components throughout the enterprise. Capabilities include centralized deployment, configuration, key management, etc. SSH Tectia Manager is deployed on a Red Hat Enterprise Linux (3/4 ES/AS) or Solaris SPARC (8/9/10) server, and manages host platforms on Windows (NT4/2000/XP/2003), Linux, AIX, Solaris, and HP-UX (see vendor for details).

SSH Tectia ConnectSecure, the newest entry in the product family, which features automatic FTP-to-SFTP conversion and transparent FTP/TCP tunneling and will work both with SSH Tectia and "... other Secure Shell server products, including OpenSSH and commercially supported versions."

The new version os SSH Tectia is now available, including the IBM z/OS version. Visit the vendor's Web site for further details.
