IntelliPolicy For Clients

Group Policy Extensions for Desktop Configuration Management

IntelliPolicy for Clients provides extended policy controls to Windows 2000/XP/2003 organizations using Microsoft's Active Directory and Group Policy technologies; technologies that allow administrators to control and manage desktop configurations on their network. According to the vendor, the IntelliPolicy extensions pick up "where Microsoft stops," adding new settings targeted to enhanced desktop security, desktop configuration management tasks such as mapping network drives, and specific application configurations at the desktop level, such as Outlook clients. Since these policies extend the capabilities of the Microsoft Group Policy architecture, they can be implemented and managed at a centralized point by any authorized administrator and are continuously enforced as user's access the network.

Specific abilities enabled by or enhanced with the IntelliPolicy for Clients offering include:

- Lockdown local devices, including CD ROM, USB Storage, etc.

- Control local administrator group membership and local admin password

- Create and update registry keys and values

- Map network drives and printers

- Schedule tasks

- Deploy files, folders and shortcuts

- Configure Outlook profiles and options

- A policy filtering feature--out-of-the-box WMI filters for Windows 2000 workstations--allows for the consolidation of existing, multiple (but similar) Group Policy Objects

- The creation of customized configurations for the provisioning of new laptops vs. new desktops

IntelliPolicy for Clients, the first in what the vendor states will be a line of IntelliPolicy offerings, is available now; pricing is set at $5.50 per user account in Active Directory. Contact FullArmor for further information.
