A member of the vendor's CARE (Capture and Record Events) software suite, SecureCARE is an endpoint Data Leak Prevention platform that utilizes endpoint agents that are managed through a Web-based interface deployed on a J2EE-based server.
The endpoint agents both send event updates for activity monitoring and real-time alerting through the central console (E-mail, log, or text messages are supported), as well as receive policy definitions from the central console for local enforcement on the endpoint. The vendor states that the endpoint agents are able to monitor E-mail, IM, file system, printing, and other types of endpoint activities towards the goal of recognizing endpoint behaviors that are violations of policy and either blocking or monitoring (auditing) them as a result.
Sensitive data can be identified via a combination of algorithms, including categories, boolean searches, lexicons, analyses, and exact/partial content matching. In addition to activity monitoring (including filing, keyboard, mouse and clipboard activities to devices as well as communication streams such as E-mail, browsing, or IM), the endpoint can periodically scan for the presence of sensitive information; including scanning the Recycle Bin, My Documents, and desktop areas. Policies can be defined by user, group, department, location, and domain and can block content from being written to specified destinations, trigger real-time alerts, block specified URLs, auto-encrypt E-mails, block the addition of USB storage, block printing actions, and more.
On the central server, a Web-based interface provides access to pre-defined and ad-hoc reporting capabilities with sorting features including date, severity, policy violation, source, destination, protected content, or combinations; as well as offers incident tracking and remediation capabilities (along with violation status).
SecureCARE is available now. Visit the vendor's Web site for further information.
