Novell FireWALL for NT

Novell FireWALL for NT is a security and traffic management solution for NT servers targeted specifically at small to medium sized businesses. The product can be integrated with both NDS and NT domains; and adds additional support for LDAP.

The FireWALL sports a graphical interface through which administrators can define their security policies. When integrated with NDS/NT Domains, those policies can easily be associated with users and groups of users, in addition to being based on IP addresses. Policies are enforced at the network, session, and application level; and can be defined per user or group based on such criteria as use of individual applications and/or their commands, file types, or even access to specific Web pages. Additional features such as NAT (Network Address Translation) and a choice of user authentication methods further serve to protect the network.

In addition to its security features, the Novell FireWALL also offers an integrated Traffic Manager. Using this option, administrators can assign and prioritize their network bandwidth by user and/or application to insure that high priority tasks receive the network response they require.

Licenses for the firewall are now available through the Novell Web site. Pricing begins at $2245 for a 25 user license and 128kbs of traffic.
